 OK, we all know the best way to write a best-seller is to sit in an Edinburgh cafe and keep warm while you get inspired by the passers-by gossiping over their cappuccinos. But sometimes you need to dig a bit deeper or double-check your facts before you commit them to paper. This page is a rummage-bin of information sources. If they’re not actually useful they might at least make you wonder where it all comes from.

  • Highland Libraries – as well as the actual shelves and fantastic staff, Highland Libraries have an on-line catalogue. Did you know your library ticket can get you access to other databases and archives such as NewsUK and Credo Reference, which are subscription only?
  • Am Baile – Highland Council’s bilingual history and culture archive. A fantastic resource for all things Highland.
